Procedure:

During a Doppler Scan, you will lie comfortably on an examination table. A handheld transducer will be gently moved over the skin surface of the area being examined. This procedure uses sound waves to produce real-time images and measure blood flow velocities, typically taking between 30 to 40 minutes to complete.

Patients with symptoms such as leg pain, swelling, skin discoloration, or suspected vascular abnormalities may require a Doppler Scan to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.

Preparation:

No specific preparation is usually necessary for a Doppler Scan. Wear comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being examined.

During the Procedure:

A gel will be applied to the skin to facilitate the transmission of sound waves. The sonographer will maneuver the transducer to obtain clear images and measure blood flow velocities in the arteries and veins. The procedure is painless & comfortable.

After the Procedure:

There are no specific restrictions after a Doppler Scan. You can resume normal activities immediately.

Report Time:
